FAQ

  • What happens during an organizing session?

We begin with removing everything from your space, then sort and categorize the items that will return to the space, and determine where remaining items should go (eliminate, relocate, donate). Permanent items will be homed by zone and outfitted with labels. If your space requires product, labels will be added post installation during the second session.

  • Can my kids be home?

In order for us to stay on task, it is best to have childcare arranged for younger children during session. If we are organizing your kids spaces and they want to be involved in the process, they are welcome to stay.

  • I'm embarrassed about the state of my home - how do I get over that?

There is no need to be embarrassed, I have seen it ALL and pass no judgement. Life is busy and I totally understand how quickly things can become unravelled (and how long they can take to put back together on your own).

  • Can I gift an organizing session to a friend or family member?

Yes! The gift of an organized home or business space is one that keeps on giving as it will have a lasting positive impact on how the recipient lives.

Contact hello@shiftorganizing.com to purchase a gift certificate in any denomination.

  • Do I have to invest in organizing product?

Nope! We can shop your house to use existing organizing product, or you can choose as many (or few) of the recommended items I will provide based on your budget. For those looking for full-service treatment, I will source, purchase, and clean all product prior to returning for install.

  • How many spaces can we tackle in one session?

If we’re working one-on-one, I generally aim to complete phase one in 1-2 spaces during the first session, then complete those spaces during our second session and start phase one in another space. It depends on the size of the space, how many items there are, and how quick you are to make decisions, so every client and project is different. The complimentary consultation is designed to get a good idea of how long it will take.
